Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do when I arrive?

When you arrive for your first appointment, my office is located inside a suite in the building. There is a personal waiting room where you will hang out until I come to get you. Just look for office #204 and the sign that says Fireside Chats.

Is your office handicapped-accessible?
Yes, it is.
How long is a typical session?
Sessions last from 45 to 50 minutes. I also offer double sessions, which are 90 minutes.
What do I do to get started?

Contact me via text, email, or through my website. I will get back to you within 24 hours (usually much quicker), and we will schedule a time for a free 15-minute phone consultation. During that call, we will schedule your first session.

I will email you a link to the Client Portal, where you will access all of your intake paperwork. This will need to be completed before your session with me. Don’t worry… no printer is required!

What is the hourly fee?

It’s $160 per session or $320 for a double session.
For couples therapy, it is $200 per session.

How do I pay?

I accept credit cards or cash.

The Client Portal will give you a place to input your card information (which you can update anytime).

Do you accept insurance?

No, I am an out-of-network provider.

However, most insurance companies offer reimbursement of some kind for your sessions with me. You will need to contact your insurance company directly to see if your policy covers this.

Can you help me file my insurance?

Let me know if you want to get reimbursed by your insurance company. If so, I will set up your account to send you a “Superbill” (the form you will need to send to your insurance). You can receive this monthly or after every session.

How do I make an appointment?

Text me at (720) 600-2694, email me at admin@firesidechatsllc.com, or fill out the Contact Form at the bottom of this site.

If you are already a client, you can schedule an appointment through the online Client Portal or on the app. Visit https://firesidechatsllc.clientsecure.me to schedule.

Can I cancel an appointment? Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes, and yes.

You can always cancel a session, but I have a 24-hour rescheduling policy. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time, you will be charged the price of the session. If you cancel outside of that timeframe, there will be no charge.

What age range do you work with?
I work with clients adults (ages 18 and up).
How long will I be in therapy?

This depends on each person. However, from my experience, it takes about five sessions for us to get to know each other and develop a solid game plan for moving forward.

Typically, clients will stay with me for six months or more, depending on their presenting problem.

Is there anyone you won’t see?
Yes, I do not work with children, people who are actively in abusive relationships (but I will work with those who have recently left an abusive situation), or those struggling with eating disorders, narcissistic/anti-social personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders, or active homicidal ideation.
What are the risks of doing therapy?

There is always a risk to therapy, as it’s never 100% guaranteed not to alter your life in some way or even not work. Therapy only works if you put in the effort in your personal time and communicate openly and honestly with me about what you need from me.

Therapy may also impact the relationships in your life, sometimes ending marriages or relationships with family members. This is because you may learn new things about yourself and areas of your life that need changing.

It may also bring up painful memories from your past you have suppressed or forgotten over time. This can cause a lot of discomfort. Therefore, it is crucial that you let me know when the sessions are too intense or if you start to feel dread about coming to sessions (If you want to fire me, that can be normal!). Let me know when that happens, and we can adjust to ensure you are still progressing without spiraling out of control.

I work with you individually and keep tabs on how therapy works for you so we can limit your negative experiences. However, some discomfort is necessary to get you to your next level of growth.

What is the best way to get in touch with you?

The best way is through the SimplePractice Client Portal because it’s HIPAA-compliant. It’s an option on the website and in the app to message each other directly.

You can download the app on your phone by searching for “Client Portal SimplePractice.” The logo has a green background with a white butterfly named “Client Portal.”

Have you been in therapy yourself?

Hell, yes!

I have loved all of my experiences in therapy. My first was in my mid-twenties, and my therapist literally saved my life.

I am currently seeing a therapist to help catapult me to the next level of growth I’m seeking.

Should I wear waterproof mascara?
It couldn’t hurt. There’s a 90% chance you will cry at some point. But don’t worry… I have plenty of tissues.
Am I allowed to ask personal questions?

Absolutely.

There’s a reason why they call it the “therapeutic relationship.” You are not meeting with a life-sized ChatGPT. I’m a real person and am open to sharing things if you are curious.

I’ll only share what I feel comfortable sharing, but don’t be afraid to ask!
